The Work

The Work

The Work cries for beginning!
But I must not work,
I have other deeds to accomplish.

The Work cries for beginning!
But I have children to feed,
books to read, castles to build.

The Work cries for beginning!
But dishes lie in lukewarm water,
the pan’s grease congeals.

The Work cries for beginning!
But laundry lies in baskets,
clean, rumpled and warm.

The Work cries for beginning!
But the cat yowls for food,
and I answer “just one minute”.

The Work cries for beginning!
And despite all necessity,
here I sit . . .

Working.

    1. I am certainly willing to participate, but I think it will take me far more than 15 minutes to create my award post. Plus I am setting out on the long drive today, from Eureka CA to Maine, so I cannot begin till I arrive. Look for my response in a few days time.

      1. Alrighty, I totally understand 🙂 Thanks for participating! I’m looking forward to reading it.

Maine, huh? It’s gorgeous yet boring. What brings you to my neck of the woods if you don’t mind me asking? I’d love to take that trip in the opposite direction.

        Good luck and safe travels!
