Surviving Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) Day Forty Nine

Surviving C-19 Day 49
May 19, 2020 8:15 AM
119 Days since first US infection

Global Infected           4,748,356                   4,823,479

Increase Infected         89,705                      75,123

US Dead                   89,636                               90,369

Increase Dead             882                                 733

So another Oklahoma City bombing day, beats another 9-11 all day long.  How long until these reports just dry up and wither away as C-19 becomes part of our background, like Cancer.  We do not hear and see Cancer rates and status in real time; do we?  Granted Cancer is not contagious, but it is more than that.

Dwelling on the things which are eating us is psychologically draining, fear is exhausting.  Not everyone is fearful, I am not and have not been fearful, I am consigned to defeat already, that is why I want to avoid it as long as possible.  Other might feel young; full of piss and vinegar, those folks feel like their life is being ruined by old people who cannot handle the randoms of life anymore.

Let’s check those canaries . . .

In Alaska, #48 most populous, was 388 and is now 400 of 731,545 confirmed infected, an increase of 12 cases (0 yesterday)

In Montana, #43 most populous, was 468 and is now 470 of 1,068,778 confirmed infected, an increase of 2 cases (0 yesterday)

In South Dakota, #46 most populous, was 3,987 and is now 4,027 of 884,659 confirmed infected, an increase of 40 cases (0 yesterday)

In Oklahoma, #28 most populous, was 5,310 and is now 5,398 of 3,956,971 confirmed infected, an increase of 88 cases (0 yesterday)

In South Carolina, #23 most populous, was 8,816 and is now 8,942 of 5,148,714 confirmed infected, an infected increase of 126 cases (155 yesterday)

In Mississippi, #34 most populous, was 11,296 and is now 11,432 of 2,976,149 confirmed infected, an increase of 136 cases (-3 yesterday)

In Minnesota, #22 most populous, was 15,668 and is now 16,372 of 5,639,632 confirmed infected, an increase of 684 cases (0 yesterday)

In Tennessee, #16 most populous, was 17,359 and is now 18,011 of 6,829,174 confirmed infected an increase of 652 cases (96 yesterday)

In Georgia, #8 most populous, was 37,949 and is now 38,283 of 10,617,423 confirmed infected, an increase of 334 cases (272 yesterday)

In Texas, #2 most populous, was 48,396 and is now 49,215 of 28,995,881 confirmed infected, an increase of 849 cases (926 yesterday)

So the states seem to be reporting and there seems to be a mild uptick, but we are 12 days from zero hour:  that is allowing time between the re-opening and a new infection to develop symptoms, its gestation.  The problem is with this, we may not see symptoms then either, because it is largely asymptomatic, most people do not get sick at all to their own knowledge, or have minor overlooked symptoms, others die.

So reopening is rolling dice to see who is the unlucky, and they will be the bloom we see, if we see that.  If by the beginning of the month we don’t see a serious uptick it likely means a lot more of us had it and didn’t know than we thought.  If we do have an uptick it means a lot of us are not yet infected and some of those will die, like me.  I would bet it is more or less a sure thing C-19 would lay waste to me, that’s why I am still isolating for the future.
