Another record day of increased infection globally.  Deaths are either flat or reduced despite this. The most probable reason for this is the re-opening and the reality that most folks who were not working are not elderly with pre-existing conditions.  For folks like that, like me, like nearly 200,000 Mainers, there is no safe re-opening unless we develop vaccines.

Let’s talk about Tulsa for a minute, all politics aside.  In attendance were 6,200 people about 95%+ unmasked, in close quarters, cheering, for over two hours.  Many of those had spent recent days awaiting the rally like deadheads awaiting Jerry, in tents along the side of the parking lot.  During this time 6 event planners working for Trump to set the event up contracted C-19.  It is a safe bet to conclude someone had the bug in the crowd with Tulsa itself in a bloom.

“The virus that causes COVID-19 is spreading very easily and sustainably between people. Information from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic suggests that this virus is spreading more efficiently than influenza, but not as efficiently as measles, which is highly contagious. In general, the more closely a person interacts with others and the longer that interaction, the higher the risk of COVID-19 spread.”-CDC

So let’s assume a minimum, say 1% had C-19. Flu spreads like this:  You get it, and you are likely to infect 1.3 people inadvertently before you know you’re sick.  C-19 spreads like this: You get it, and you are likely to infect 2.5 people before you know you’re sick.  So flu is a 1 to 1 plus a tiny bit, every third person infects 2 people.  C-19 is far worse, it infects 2.5 people before you know you have it.  So its potential to spread fast is more than twice that of the flu, and it is far more lethal.

That said the numbers go like this, and this is why we locked down.  1% of attendees would be 62 people who will infect 155 people, before that first group shows symptoms most likely in a weeks’ time.  Then that 155 will infect another 387.5 people, by now some of the first group are showing symptoms, some may never show symptoms, now were two weeks out.  By the third week attendees are becoming aware they are ill, and informing friends and family and seeking treatment, or asymptomatic.  The third circle of infection will be almost a thousand deep, 968.75.  So in less than a month 62 becomes 1,573.25.

62+155+387.5+968.75=1,573.25

There is no viable way to track such a bloom, following all attendees home to their home states and cities, and they spread it wherever.  It’s like a nationwide birdshot of virus to us all.

I see C-19 as a byproduct of Climate shift, being not created by but influenced by a shift in climate.  Virus is like every other living thing, if we reduce a viruses habitat it will seek new hosts.
