Surviving C-19
August 1, 2020
12.01 AM
192 Days since first US infection

Now this is two I think . . .
“Raul Grijalva: Arizona Democratic congressman tests positive for Covid-19”
Also the GOP Sen who refused to wear a mask and thinks the mask made him catch it, then of course there is Herman Cain, who likely caught it at Trumps Virus fest in Tulsa, now deceased.  Mr. Cain, not the virus.

When this Pandemic began I made the point then that most of both houses of Congress, and the White House and Supreme Court, are all in the ‘elevated at risk’ category, for age and underlying conditions.  That remains unchanged.

South Africa is in full bloom, 500,000 and still rising fast.

I hope more than this is done . . .
“DHS official whose office compiled ‘intelligence reports’ on journalists and protesters has been removed from his job”

They need to be prosecuted and whomever told him to do that, prosecuted as well.  Police targeting Media is the end of free speech.

The first teen in California died of C-19, no doubt bringing the possibility home to millions of children’s minds.

“‘Taboo’ herd immunity the only  long-term solution to Covid-19, says expert”
“BHAGALPUR: Experts at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JLNMCH), a dedicated Covid hospital in Bhagalpur, have claimed that as soon as 70% herd immunity in humans is attained, Covid-19 infection may slow down.”–Times of India

It is not that herd immunity is bad, it is necessary.  The question is how many millions must die to achieve that without a viable vaccine?  That is how vaccines work, they give everyone enough antibodies to a given virus that it cannot bloom.  Vaccines create herd immunity, the other way to herd immunity is infection.  So “hoping’ for “herd Immunity”, without a vaccine, is ‘hoping’ people catch the virus.

“WHO reports record daily increase in global coronavirus cases, up over 292,000”
We keep setting records, at home and around the globe.  Not for containment and low infectivity rates, but for record shattering levels of infections and death.  We either face the harsh reality as adults, or condemn ourselves to suffer more of the same until we do.

Global Infected 17,674,664
Weekly running total 1,273,162+273,168=1,546,330
Saturday Sum 1,456,330

Global Dead 681,158
Weekly running total 28,401+5,945=34,346
Saturday Sum 34,346

USA Infected 4,603,170
Weekly running total 338,959+64,154=401,113
Saturday Sum 401,113

USA C-19 deaths 153,989
Weekly running total 4808+1,067=5,875
Saturday Sum 5,875

Maine Infected 3,937
Weekly running total 98+25=123
Saturday Sum 123

OK, it is apparent by eye how bad we are doing, you do not even need math.  Math will give you precisely the measurement, but by eye you can see it is not good, like a barrel about to overflow.  You do not need to measure it precisely to see it is going to overflow.

Global Deaths this week 34,346, USA Deaths this week 5,875. That is 5,875/34,346, about 1/6th of the world’s deaths, this week. We are not even 12% of the world’s population, and the rest of those deaths are spread among hundreds of nations, with a couple of other failures right behind us.

Oh yeah, a class 1 hurricane is likely to skirt the edge of the Florida coast all the way to NE, who knows where it will make landfall.  100’s of thousands of Puerto Ricans are now without power from that, in the Pandemic.  Florida and the East Coast to follow suit shortly.

Since Wednesday of this week 1,456,330 people were diagnosed with C-19, 34,346 were exterminated by it, of those 5,875 were my fellow Americans, 4 are fellow Mainers.
