So I have moved, still largely in boxes but the old rental is now re-rented.  I am more removed from society than I was, Isolated on my hilltop at the end of a dirt road off a low access paved road.  The only traffic is locals and Amazon, USPS, UPS and so forth.

Very sore, as my new abode forces me into greater activity levels, which I need, the Doctors want, and I could not get without exposure risks being greatly elevated.  Not so anymore, and I feel that.

Only about half of us are masking on the reg.  Half. If only half mask, then masking has little effect.  Like vaccinations the response requires massive co-operation.  We all need to work together and we cannot do that with half the damn nation denying reality, denying science and ‘hoping it will just go away’, like the POTUS has claimed many times.

Far too many people are adhering to that as I watch bloom after bloom following mass gathering after mass gathering.  Like watching dominoes fall as half the onlookers scream ‘Fake News’.

I wonder how hot the fire has to get for people to realize it is not fake, not hype, but the beginning of a major pandemic.  A Pandemic which is unleashing a new Endemic virus, one which will be here unless vaccinated out of existence, like smallpox.

That is a decade or more away folks.

Meanwhile Trump golfs while talking trash about the Military, bringing me back to “I fucking told you so”.  Why any vet would endorse and support a five time draft dodger is quite beyond me.  If as a Young man he ducks service; not objects, not refuses and faces jail on his principals, but ducks, dodges and slimes his way out of service.  Allowing other Americans to go and serve in his stead by falsely claiming he was unable to serve.

If he was unable then, he cannot be able now.  If he was willing to let others go die in his stead and sees them as ‘suckers’ for doing so, then he is not fit for the office. The character of a person who ducks mandatory service is not a character befitting the POTUS.

The GOP does not care, they see him as a puppet they can manipulate to make more money.

The psychological benefit of not doing this daily cannot be exaggerated.  Tracking this all daily was exhausting.  Now we are in the second phase of Pandemic.  The Bug, C-19, has become an endemic virus with global reach.  It is not a new pandemic anymore, it is an ever-present endemic threat (“I live here now bitches”-C-19), like the damn common cold, it’s cousin.

C-19 is a fact of life we will all live with for a decade or more.  As a Planet we failed to meet the threat.  As a Nation we failed miserably and still are failing because half of us are refusing to accept the harsh reality.

That bodes ill.

Predictions now near the half million mark for deaths by January, as flu season ramps up. The ability for doctors to determine if you have RS, cold, Flu or C-19 will be very difficult, and if you get one you may get 2,3, or even all at the same time.  This is a nasty viral vector we are not prepared for, or preparing for as far as I can see.  You cannot properly prepare for anything if you deny the thing itself, or downplay its effect.

Imagine trying to fight a fire with victims who do not believe it is bad enough to warrant ringing the alarm, or who disbelieve in fire itself.  Now imagine being a firefighter where the victims in the burning house fight you and deny there is a fire.

That is the position we have placed all our medical personnel in.

At the start of this Neil DeGrasse Tyson said “it is a big experiment to see who listens to scientists, and who does not”.

I see it as a Darwin award competition, who is going to adapt and who refuses to adapt and therefore withers and dies.

While I moved and lived in isolation another 5,711 of our citizens died.  I wonder how long till Trump calls them losers too?  As this all drags on I cannot help but wonder that America elected Scrooge . . .

“At this festive season of the year, Mr. Scrooge, . . . it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir.”

“Are there no prisons?”

“Plenty of prisons…”

“And the Union workhouses.” demanded Scrooge. “Are they still in operation?”

“Both very busy, sir…”

“Those who are badly off must go there.”

“Many can’t go there; and many would rather die.”

“If they would rather die,” said Scrooge, “they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.”
-A Christmas Carole by Charles Dickens

Now how Trump like does that sound?
